Installing Your Garage Door Opener in 10 Quick Steps
A garage door opener is of course essential for the operation of your garage door. Needless to say, a garage door would be more convenient with an opener or an opening device that excuses you from manually opening and shutting your garage door. Fortunately, there are many gadgets that will make life so much easier for you - such is the garage door opener, a handy tool that you can purchase and install without needing professional help.
1. Your garage door opener should be placed precisely at the middle of your garage door. To achieve this, you will have to measure the length and the width. Once the vertical centre is established, you can attach the drawbar at this line from the inside so that lifting and rolling will be balanced.
2.Mount the garage door opener above its maximum travel. The rail should be positioned above the highest possible level that the garage door will reach to prevent it from striking the rail when it is opened.
3. Check for enough space above the garage door to attach the front end of the rail. Now if this is not available, a front mounting board must then be put in its place. A sturdy plank that is proportionate to the width of the garage door can be fastened securely with screws and stud. Sensibly, your vertical door centre will also have to be extended to this plank.
4.Read, understand and follow the next instructions indicated at the accompanying manual of your garage door opener. It should tell you to attach the rail to the motor unit on the floor. The rail bracket included in the kit must be fastened to the front mounting plank. Nuts and bolts are typically provided in the garage door opener package.
5.Position the motor piece to the point where the rail is parallel to the door track. At this position, try to lift and lower the garage door to make sure the motor does not interfere with the garage door's movements. Fasten the motor to the garage joists using the metal brackets included in the kit.
6.Position the drawbar at the closed door position of the rail carriage. With help from another person, mark the place where the screws should be drilled. Drill the holes, mount the drawbar, insert and tighten screws. This should fasten your drawbar to the garage door securely.
7.Adjust bolts, drive chains or lead screws, if necessary. Observe if the length of the chain is enough to your desired limit.
8.Set up the radio receiver and connect to the manual push button using bell wire. An optional key switch may also be used. /p>
9.Plug all cords. The drive assembly wire to an extension cord and plug temporary extension cord to an electric outlet. Using the manual push button, test the garage door movement several times to make sure there are no hitches, should there be any problems, make the necessary alterations.
10.Remove the extension cord and plug the drive motor assembly into its affixed, permanent outlet. You may also connect the wire to the overhead garage door light socket so that the light automatically turns on when the garage door is in motion.
